Dr. Stefan Spielmann

Dr Stefan Spielmann is a lawyer and partner who also serves as head of the Dortmund office and deputy head of the Property, Marine and Transport department. He is a Specialist Insurance Lawyer and has become one of the leading experts on property insurance law in Germany after many years of experience in multiple coverage law issues in the property and cyber insurance sectors. He has handled waves of litigation after major loss events, and advised on complex major industrial claims, including in the context of dubious claims. Currently, Dr Stefan Spielmann is involved, among other things, in defending claims against business interruption insurers following the forced closings of businesses in the hotel and catering industry. Most recently, he advised insurers on coverage law in connection with business interruption losses following cyberattacks.
