Marcel Hohagen, LLM, is a lawyer and partner in the Industrial Liability department at the Dortmund office. He is a renowned legal expert in industrial liability insurance and particularly in product liability and environmental liability insurance. He offers a profound understanding of technical, chemical, biological and geological matters as well as many years of experience. Marcel Hohagen is familiar with the interactions of civil and public liability, hazard defence and procedural law in connection with insurance coverage issues and has a well-founded understanding of relevant common legal principles across borders. He is currently representing, for example, an industrial liability insurer in relation to claims brought by tens of thousands of injured parties in connection with an internationally distributed medical device. In recent years, he has managed cases that include the legal defence of a subrogation claim arising from a major fire loss as well as coverage litigation for an international industrial insurer over costs incurred from a worldwide car manufacturer recall.
Together with Thorsten Süß, Marcel Hohagen heads the "State and Official Liability" advisory team, which assists legal persons under public law, their municipal undertakings and employees out of court and advises on all aspects of liability law. The service line particularly focuses on the judicial defence of claims for damages.
