State and Official Liability
BLD is active in all areas of state and official liability. We assist all legal persons under public law out of court and advise, for example, regional and self-governing corporations, their (municipal) undertakings, public officials and religious societies in all matters of liability law.
We focus in particular on the judicial defence of claims for damages against these corporations and their bodies. We act on behalf of the corporations themselves, their insurers or loss adjustments and offer a comprehensive service ranging from individual settlements to the defence of entire liability complexes.
Our work is based on our many years of expertise in matters of state and official liability law. State and official liability often requires interdisciplinary co-operation: Our lawyers are not only familiar with the basic principles of state liability law, but also know the current state of case law and the substantive law of the respective specialised discipline. We therefore deal with 'traditional' issues of public liability law, such as the legal duty to maintain safety or road traffic law. However, we can also advise and represent large liability complexes, for example in the building industry, medical malpractice law or environmental damage.
