Our law firm has been active for many years in complex matters relating to reinsurance law. For example, we advise primary insurers and reinsurers on the introduction of new, innovative products, some of which are planned jointly. A further integral part of our advisory activities involves advising primary insurers as assignors in the development of bespoke reinsurance concepts to secure their own business model. We are also active in the somewhat rarer cases involving contentious disputes over the scope of coverage for reinsurance contracts.
A current focus of our advisory activities is life reinsurance. In this area, reinsurance solutions that feature interest rate risk transfer mechanisms or those that cushion the burden from additional interest reserves gained importance in recent years due to persistently low interest rates. In a cross-border context, we regularly advise on biometric risk pooling concepts.
In the non-life insurance sector, we advise our clients in contract negotiations with foreign reinsurers or foreign assignors. We also support our clients in the implementation of fronting concepts with local risk carriers in the course of establishing international insurance programmes. The Covid-19 pandemic has also brought new legal questions to the fore, and we have played a key role in answering them.
We are also happy to represent you in national and international disputes before arbitral tribunals and state courts.
As part of our insurance regulatory advice, we support our clients in setting up reinsurance companies or captives.
If required, we also carry out training courses in the field of reinsurance for our clients.
